Only Councilmen Lackey and Steve Knight are guaranteed seeing any of the increase. Ledford, Mayor Pro Tem Mike Dispenza and Hofbauer are all up for re-election in November. The 2003 pay increase took council members’ salaries from $600 to $660 per month and the mayor’s from $1,000 to $1,100. By state law, the council could have elected to have gone with as much as a 50percent raise because it had been 10 years since the last pay boost, but it opted to limit it to 10percent. Lancaster’s monthly salary for its mayor and council members is set at $600, according to a city staff report. Victorville’s monthly salary for its mayor and council members is set at $855, with an anticipated increase to $940 following its next general municipal election. PALMDALE – A divided City Council approved a 15percent pay raise for the mayor and City Council members who are in office after the next municipal election in November 2007. In a 3-2 vote Wednesday night, the council voted to boost the mayor’s salary from $1,100 per month to $1,265 and the council members’ monthly salary from $660 to $759. The new salaries take effect after the next municipal election. The raise will be the first for the council since 2003. Before that, the last raise was in 1993. Mayor Jim Ledford said the council deferred pay raises in the 1990s when economic times were tough.
