Substitute: Chris Smalling – 6 – Did well after replacing Jones in defence, but could do little when thrown upfront in the final stages. 14 David de Gea – 6 – Was rarely tested, but did everything he needed to do. Was fortunate Markovics late shot hit the post after being wrong footed by the Serb. Marcos Rojo – 7 – An excellent showing from Rojo, who was comfortable alongside both of his central defensive partners. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 4 – Dropped far too deep to play an important role upfront, and ended up kicking Hull players rather than the ball all too often. Substitute: Juan Mata – 5 – Largely invisible for much of the game, Mata could not provide the cutting edge expected of him. Antonio Valencia – 6 – Solid defensively, but very wasteful in the final third. Many United attacks came down his flank, and were often ended by a bad final ball. Substitute: Wayne Rooney – 4 – Looked off the pace when introduced, providing nothing of note in his 45 minutes on the pitch. 14 14 14 14 Ander Herrera – 7 – Controlled the tempo of the game with a series of wise passes and intelligent runs. 14 Daley Blind – 6 – Much like Valencia, he defended well but was wasteful in the final third. Was denied a goal by Jakupovics excellent save. 14 Paul Pogba – 4 – Offered nothing going forward, and only dared to play simple passes.
