Share LocalNews Gold chain thief gets six months jail sentence by: – March 18, 2014 Tweet Share (Caribarena Antigua photo)Erickson Prevost of Goodwill has been ordered to serve six months imprisonment by Chief Magistrate Candia Carette-George after he pleaded guilty to stealing jewellery from a Chinese owned store.Prevost stole three gold filled chains valued at EC $240.00 from Colour’s Store on Independence Street, Roseau on March 14, 2014.Police prosecutor inspector Valda Powel told the court that Prevost visited the store on Friday, March 14 at around 8AM and asked Suzanne Sung, owner of the store whether she was interested in purchasing fish. She said no and went to the back of the store. When she returned she noticed the jewellery missing from a showcase and proceeded to check the store cameras. She saw Prevost stealing the jewellery and called the police to make a report.Later that day, investigating officer Hypolite F met Prevost and cautioned him about the incident.“I don’t know about that,” Prevost replied and was informed that the police had acquired video footage of him on camera stealing the chains.Prevost then revealed to the police that he gave the chain to a lady in Pottersville. He also brought him to a bar in Pottersville and identified the lady. The bar owner presented to the police a white tissue paper from under the bar counter in which the three chains were contained.Prevost was arrested on the suspicion of theft and taken to the Police Headquarters.“I really made a mistake and I’m, sorry, she always buys fish from me.
